Just to name a few things for pking that normal Runelite doesn't have: OpenOSRS feels like best of both worlds. Exilent is much better for pking than runelite but is focused on pking alone. Why should you use OpenOSRS over Runelite or other clients? Most versatile and complete client IMO. In this small guide I'll be explaining how to get OpenOSRS and some tips to set it up properly. It allows you to add a lot of plugins that aren't available on Runelite, even some that were removed from runelite. You could say its like Runelite on steroids. OpenOSRS is built upon the open-source (publicly available) code base of runelite, with added bonuses.
OpenOSRS, is one of the most overpowered third-party clients I've seen/used. I have no idea if/when they will actually get to the point that the official client will be good enough to remove 3PC's, but if the game doesn't die in the near future it isn't out of the realm of possibility.
OSBuddy then Runelite is probably the best thing to happen to OSRS, they need to learn from the success of those. The new client will give Jagex more power to do cool things with the game, give them more data to combat bots/goldfarmers/RWT, and it will be easier to hire developers for C++ than Java. Honestly I'm excited for the new client to get up to speed, and I agree with the OP they need to add a plugin system to allow people to customize their experience. They are rebuilding everything in C++ so the java runelite client won't do them any good.
